Na PC igričarskem trgu poteka prava vojna, kjer si udarce izmenjavata trgovini Epic ter Steam.
Epic poskuša uporabnike na svojo stran dobiti preko ekskluzivnih iger, ki jih ni potem mogoče kupiti nikjer drugje. A po njihovih besedah jih veliko bolj moti Valvov poslovni model, kjer si na Steam trgovini od vsakega prodanega izvoda odtegnejo mastnih 30% dobička, kar je seveda ogromna številka.
Predsednik Epica Tim Sweeney se je včeraj zavihtel na Twitter in izjavil nekaj presenetljivega. Če bi Steam z založniki delil več dobička, bi Epic prenehal podpisovati ekskluzivne pogodbe in bi celo sami izdali svoje igre na Steamu.
If Steam committed to a permanent 88% revenue share for all developers and publishers without major strings attached, Epic would hastily organize a retreat from exclusives (while honoring our partner commitments) and consider putting our own games on Steam.

Po njegovih besedah je ta 30% delež največji problem PC trga in Epic je ustvaril svojo platformo s specifičnim namenom odprave tega problema.

Then stores could go back to just being nice places to buy stuff, rather than the Game Developer IRS.
Epic je torej podal ultimat Valvu in zanimivo bo videti, če se bo trenutno največja digitalna platforma sploh odzvala. Še bolj zanimivo pa bo, če se bo v primeru pozitivnega odziva Epic res držal teh svojih visoko letečih obljub.
